Healthy Frozen Greek Yogurt Bars

This easy frozen Greek yogurt bar recipe has become one of my favorite go-to snacks. It’s healthier and more affordable than buying frozen desserts at the grocery store. It is the perfect balance of fruity, chocolatey, and creamy. It’s really a two-step snack: simply mix all the ingredients together and freeze overnight. This recipe is also super versatile. Don’t feel limited by the toppings listed here, add your favorites!

The Best Easy Healthy Alternative to Ice Cream

These frozen Greek yogurt bars are delicious and don’t contain extra preservatives you might find in boxed products. This recipe is super simple, with only a few whole ingredients, and is essentially only two steps.

Greek Yogurt

I love Greek yogurt. Not only is it delicious but there are so many nutritional benefits. It is high in protein, contains calcium, has gut-friendly probiotics, and also has various vitamins (check out Medical News Today for even more benefits). For this recipe, choose vanilla or plain Greek yogurt that has 2% fat or higher. The fat content not only helps keep you satiated for longer but also helps create a creamy texture. I love 2% Fage yogurt but use whichever brand you prefer.

Want to try something new? Try creating your own Greek yogurt with a yogurt maker, such as this Bear Yogurt Maker. It allows you to be totally in control of the process and the ingredients and can be a fun activity.

Sweet Mix Ins (craisins, chocolate, and more)

This recipe focuses on the two amazing mix-ins that go well with Greek yogurt: dried fruit and chocolate. The sweetness balances perfectly with the tanginess of the yogurt. Feel free to add any mix-ins that you love, though. Another great option that pairs well are berries (preferably fresh). You can also use frozen berries, but it will take longer to thaw, so I recommend only using small ones such as blueberries or raspberries.

Not feeling dried or fresh fruit? Some other great mix in ideas you can try include granola, nuts, or other small hard candies.

Frozen Treat Tips & Patience

My least favorite part of the recipe is the time it takes. You should let it freeze overnight to ensure it is completely solid and can be cut into bars. Also, because the Greek yogurt is unflavored, make sure to evenly spread out your mix-ins. Each bite should have a little bit of something!

Try using a baking sheet that has a slightly high rim to ensure there is no spillover. This naturals aluminum baking sheet from Amazon is a great example of making. Line it with some parchment paper for easy cutting and clean up and you are all set to go!
